Six weeks to a healthier you
Comments Off on Six weeks to a healthier youLast month, we wrapped up the pilot of a small-group workshop that I developed, called “Six weeks to a healthier you”. It’s now ready for prime time!
I will be offering it at the Georgetown Naturopathic Wellness Centre, starting Wednesday January 16, 2013 at 7:15 p.m. Please spread the word. Space is limited.
Alternatively – if you already have an established daytime group who would be interested in me coming to you, we should talk!
I would also be very happy to provide this program in a workplace over the lunch hour.
It’s a small commitment of time that could add up to major health benefits.
What participants can expect is Wellness 101. Some things you may already know but have forgotten or are not implementing. And some things will be new.
This is a holistic approach. We discuss the importance of hydration, mechanics of digestion, whole foods, practical tips on meal planning and how to avoid toxins. But we will also look at moving the body, mindful eating, sleep habits and stress.
The small group provides an opportunity to learn from the facilitator and from each other. Information will be general in nature. I would encourage you to seek one-on-one coaching for specific health concerns.
Here are some of the things participants said about the program:
“I was already making healthy choices with my food, but I learned so much from each session and dramatically increased the variety of foods in my diet.”
“It truly made a difference in my outlook and approach to how and what I eat.”
Elinor “provides excellent information with simple steps to implement at home.”
“Her open approach allowed me to tailor her tips to fit my lifestyle.”
“Six Weeks to a Healthier You focuses on manageable and practical tips and strategies that added up to major changes in my well-being by the end of the sessions.”
“Elinor’s holistic and balanced approach helped me sort through the mixed messages and make decisions about the foods that work for me”
“The group setting and exercises made this workshop fun as well as informative”
So – if you (or someone you know) are ready to start 2013 on a healthier path, please consider this program. For a full program outline and details of how to register please go to Lifestyle Programs on this website.

SORRY – I almost forgot the recipes – here they are:
Colourful Anytime Omelette
Saute: ½ small onion chopped
1 clove garlic crushed
in 1 tbsp olive oil
Add 1 cup red and yellow peppers coarsely chopped
2 cups spinach (or more to taste).
Cook until peppers are tender crisp and spinach is wilted.
Pour 2 beaten eggs and freshly ground pepper over veggie mixture. Cover and cook over low heat until eggs are done.
Blueberry Banana Smoothie for breakfast
1 cup frozen wild blueberries
1 small banana
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 scoop Vega powder (or other high quality protein powder)
1 scoop Greens First (or other Greens powder) – this will make it SWEET as it has stevia in it. For a less sweet option add 2 cups baby spinach or kale or a mixture of both.
Blend all ingredients until smooth
